A Fall Shopping Cart

Shop The Post

Fall is here and maybe we’ve seen the last of 80 degree temperatures here in Iowa…I wore a tank top and shorts to the Hawkeye game over the weekend and while I was craving jeans and a sweatshirt; it was very nice not to have to layer. Here are a few things I’ve put in my shopping cart the past few weeks or have pulled the trigger on. I’m working from home a few days a week but still headed into an office 3/5 days and have been trying to hone in on more of a work uniform. Jeans and a fun top or sweater, leaning towards neutrals to easily mix and match, with a pop of color here and there. I’ve been LIVING in this Emerson Fry t-shirt and layer it with cardigans or blazers; it can be dressed up or down depending on the need.

This winter or next spring I’m hoping to save up (it’s kind of pricey) to get my colors done so I can better streamline my wardrobe. Since having Lucy I’ve gravitated to more of a neutral color palette, but I know some colors will better serve my coloring (pink is actually a color I love to wear despite the neutral wardrobe, because I feel like it makes my hair and eyes pop….but we will see if it’s an actual thing when the time comes haha). This J-Crew top is currently on sale and I can never say no to good puffy sleeve.

I love to shop second hand whether on Poshmark or at local resale/consignment shops and recently discovered a pair of DL1961 and Agolde jeans that I’ve been LIVING in, they were both new to me brands at such a steal of a price. I’ve got a few pairs on my wish list along with a new pair of white Tretorns; mine have seen better days. I would love to find a good boot for fall and a new pair of neutral flats as well. It’s funny when I headed back to an office in May most of my ‘nice’ shoes had DUST on them, I kid you not. I’ve tried to keep my accessories fairly neutral; lots of gold dainty pieces, like a simple pearl necklace from AU-Rate that can easily be layered with other necklaces or on its own or paired with a more statement earring (these are a work horse – you can wear them three different ways).

I’m on the hunt for the perfect leather jacket as I came to discover when packing for a recent long weekend in Tahoe that mine from Forever 21 that I purchased in college was literally deteriorating, it was one of my most beloved articles of clothing. I have been sewing a lot lately and I have on my list to make a similar quilted jacket but I found this one at Scheel’s of all places and fell in love, but both the longer green version from Madewell and the golden Z-Supply jacket caught my eye. Eventually I’d like to update my purse game. I have a work laptop bag and then a keychain/wallet situation, but I’m almost ready for just a classic leather bag to take out and about.
