We are officially 22 weeks along and a few weeks ago at our 20 week ultrasound we found out if Baby McClelland is a boy or a girl! Cody and I went to the appointment and had the tech put the ultrasound into an envelope. We went out to lunch following the appointment and just had the ‘reveal’ moment between the two of us.
We chose to find out the sex of Baby #2 instead of being surprised during delivery. We wanted to be a little bit more prepared this time around (do we need to invest in some additional clothing, purge any of Jack’s old clothes, etc), and thankfully most of our baby items (and nursery) are gender neutral which works for us, and leaves us in a good spot for Baby Girl!
To be completely honest, I think I was more shocked seeing the “GIRL” typed out on our ultrasound than I was when Jack arrived (we had a gut feeling he was a boy). While I didn’t have a feeling truly one way or another with this pregnancy, I sort of just assumed it was going to be another boy. In my head and heart prior to hearing those words, I just assumed and was so content with being a boy mom. It did take a moment..okay, maybe the rest of the day, to truly wrap my mind around having a girl (but in the best way, I promise). For some reason I’m trying to put words to, I’m nervous to have a little girl, outside of all the jokes of saying how expensive she will be. We will figure it out together!
So many, SO many people have asked how excited we are, and we truly are excited to experience life with a little girl. I’m excited to see Jack be a big brother to his sister and can’t wait to see their relationship unfold. I’m also anxious to see Cody and Baby G Mack (Baby Girl McClelland), they are going to have the BEST bond, I can just feel it. I just want to know if she is going to mirror her brother in looks with blonde curls and blue eyes. I never imagined having blonde children, so that’s something I’m anxious to find out once she arrives!
Our families were super excited with the news, it’s the first girl on my side (she’s going to learn to hang with all the boys) and while it’s not the first girl on Cody’s side, but all of our family members are excited to buy her allll the clothes (which works for us)! :)
We can’t decide on a name, and while I’d like to go in to May with a solid few name choices, I’m sure it will be a game time decision. We flipped a coin deciding Jack’s name and wouldn’t be surprised if we had to do it again!
At the end of the day, all we want is a healthy baby and pregnancy and so far we have been blessed with both!
