The moment we moved into our new house last February, I would say it was almost instantaneous that I knew I wanted to get rid of our current accent chair that came with us from our townhouse. Our living area is slightly smaller and more closed off then the open floor plan we had previously, which made our L-shaped couch and recliner a bit more over-sized then the room allows.
With the finishing of our basement, we had the best of intentions to move both the recliner and our L-shaped couch downstairs. However; after a brief “Pivot” moment and accepting that there was no way our couch was making it around the corner into the basement, we decided to sell both pieces of furniture. This led to us inheriting our current leather sofa from my aunt and uncle as they updated their furniture (such a steal!); but left a void for what would accompany the sofa.
After scouring many websites and taking many Facebook polls – beware when you do this, Facebook friends have strong opinions whether you’re ready for them or not! We went from stylish to practical and back again (traditional, modern, recliners, leather, tweed, etc.). You name it, I looked at it. Cody is all about comfort, affordable, and reclin-ability , and I was more in line with stylish and affordable, with a side of comfort. Decorating as a couple can just be tough sometimes.
Luckily, Capsule Home (formerly Volo Design) to the rescue. I originally stumbled across the brand on a large shopping site where I instantly fell in love with one of their chairs; however it happened to be sold out. I continued to research and found their direct website. Capsule Home had so many armchair options that not only fit the bill for style, comfort, but price as well. Their main goal is to bring exciting designers to market at affordable pricing. Cue ‘snapchat’ heart eyes. Offering curated and limited-run products, Capsule Home operates online only which helps cut their costs on any overhead, in addition to working directly with the designers and makers of the high quality product. This cuts out any markups for middleman across the way.
Once the order was placed, it took about a week and a half for delivery. I simply had to unbox the chair and set it in it’s place. Voila! Not only is the chair the perfect size for me (sorry, Cody – you can enjoy your old school recliner in the basement), it’s sleek and stylish. It’s high back is great for taller guests but still cozy enough to curl up with next to the fire. Exactly what I was looking for, and Lola for that matter too!

The timing of this post is seriously perfect! :-) We’re still fixing up our condo, and an accent chair for the corner of our living room is the last piece we need! As you showed, it can be SUPER expensive – so we’ve been holding off! Your living room looks so beautiful, and I’m so glad you found the perfect chair! :-)

Hi there! I love this setup, especially the bookshelf. Where did you get the David bust? It’s one of the best ones I’ve seen.
Thank you!! I picked it up about a year ago at Home Goods! They usually have something similar with their home accessories section!
