After a lengthy search for maternity jeans, I finally have a handful of jeans I can safely transition into fall with. Soon, though I’m not trying to wish away summer, I will retire my easy breezy dresses that have worked well with my bump, and start transitioning into a fall wardrobe. This peplum top from Modcloth (which is not maternity, BTW), will be a staple in my closet this fall. With the empire waist, this top was practically made for pregnancy and the beauty is can be worn after too!
Modcloth offers sizing from XXS-4XL so everyone woman can find their perfect fit while staying true to their style or what’s trending. Dressing the bump can be hard, especially when I feel like a lot of maternity clothes are just not that cute or flattering, so finding some non-maternity options that work for a growing bump is a HUGE plus in my book, especially when they can be worn post-baby.

The Mini Backpack
I treated myself to a new mini backpack from Rebecca Minkoff Medium Julian Backpack before I left for San Francisco last week and not only was it a great addition to my handbag collection, it completely eliminated my need for a carry-on while traveling! It held my kindle, sunglasses, wallet, and small travel beauty products on the plane, and while touring the city, it even held my DSLR and a mini umbrella! It was seriously one of my better purchases to date and really paid for itself!
There’s nothing like flying thousands of miles away from home just to take in a little sunshine. I just returned from a much needed vacation to San Francisco, CA. I spent a few days touring the city and spent this past Saturday touring Sonoma.
We started the day with rain and ended it with sunshine. Mother Nature was kind enough to throw us a bone on our last full day in California. It was chilly, but the sun finally came out to play. Of course, Iowa was experiencing 80 degree weather in our absence. That’s how it usually works, right?! But in lieu of warm temperatures, I couldn’t appreciate the lush greenery more than when we drove into Sonoma. It was a reminder that spring is indeed here and summer is just around the corner!
So what do you wear when it’s raining and you are bopping around from winery to winery? White jeans, of course! I hesitated slightly when I picked out this outfit, but Old Navy’s stay-white jeans came through for the win. I can’t recommend Old Navy’s jeans enough – especially when they work in my favor to help prevent stains! The added detail of the raw edge hem adds a fresh twist on a pair of cropped denim!
Forcing a little spring wardrobe into my trip, I branched out of my usual color palette and picked up this sunshine yellow peplum tank top. The top great for layering, which is key for traveling to San Francisco, I added even more color with this floral printed neck scarf. I can just hear Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada saying, “Florals for spring, groundbreaking!” She was really on to something. : )
