Dining Room Inspiration

At any given time I’m redecorating the remainder rooms of our house in my head and if I have the time, I pin away images upon images of inspiration on Pinterest. Our dining room area is under constant construction in my head and here are some designs that I just can’t get enough of.

I work in the furniture industry and more specifically with Herman Miller furniture. So it’s safe to say that my love for the Eames molded plastic chair may prove strong enough to make its appearance. It’s a toss-up between a rustic table, ideally large enough to fit 6 or a seamless and modern oval tulip table. The mix between rustic and modern is where my tastes lie, so I can’t wait to see how this space develops as time passes by.

I found this table on Etsy, the juxtaposition between the modern steel base and the rustic farm table had me all heart-eyed emoji face. The additional styling of the Eames style chairs immediately caught my attention. It easily fits six with the potential to add two more people at each end. Our dining room space is on the small side, but this could easily work.

This image may be in my top two for design elements (the other contender is a few images below). The modern chairs (similar ones can be found on West Elm) with the tulip table ooze minimal, classic, and timeless vibes. The only thing I would change in our space would be adding an oversized pendant (similar to this one), swapping out the circular table top for an oval sized top and adding a rug.

In keeping with my love of rustic style elements with hair pin legs, this table and chair set would fit right into our home (remember this post). The credenza in this design is also something we are going to add to the wall in our dining room space to create storage yet still maintain a stylish aesthetic.

For the more rustic take, mixing a farm table with these black chairs is something that will catch the eye. I love the spindle backs on these chairs.

Another rustic table with modern-style chairs. This design lends to more of a romantic and cozy vibe.

This rustic/modern design is in my top-two. The oversized light fixture, the rug, the wishbone chairs, this simply captures everything I want in a dining room. It’s inviting, bright, airy, and cozy…all at the same time. I hope to recreate something close to this design for our space. This may require us to paint our dining room area…but that leads to bigger questions about painting our entire first floor…because we have a semi-open area between our dining room and kitchen (and the kitchen leads into the entry way from the garage and our hallway to our front door)….where does one stop and start with wall color?!

This design combines many of the styles as seen above. Rustic table, Eames-style chairs, wish bone chairs, stylish rug, and an oversized pedant. I like the idea of mixing up chairs, but it practice, I’m not sure if I could pull it off.

A rough idea of how the space could be styled:
