5 Can’t Miss Podcasts

The Brunette One, Podcasts, Serial, Limetown, Bros Listen to PLL Too, The Jess Lively Show, She Did It Her Way

Within the last year I’ve become an avid podcast listener. I give all credit to Serial, who took my love of storytelling and real-life crime drama and helped me pass the time when I was styling outfits for Men’s Style Lab. Now that I’m back behind a desk at my current job (I now work in project management for an interior design company), I still like to put in my headphones and GSD while listening to the latest episodes of my favorite podcasts.

Here are the top 5 I’ve been listening to:

  1. Serial – Let’s just call this a gateway podcast by Sarah Koenig . The first season investigates the death of Hae Min Lee and the arrest of Adnan Syad.  You can continue following Adnan’s case on Undisclosed Podcast. I’m anxiously awaiting the drop of Season 2 and can only hope it’s as gripping as this case was.
  2. Limetown -Ten years ago, over three hundred men, women and children disappeared from a small town in Tennessee, never to be heard from again. In this seven-part podcast, American Public Radio host Lia Haddock asks the question once more, “What happened to the people of Limetown?” With 2 episodes to go, we are slowly uncovering the secrets of Limetown, but I honestly have no idea where it’s going to go! This is one story that I wish wouldn’t end and I can’t wait to see what else the creators come up with next. PS. I should note this is a fictional podcast – I’ve had multiple people tell me they didn’t realize it until a few episodes in :)
  3. Bros Love PLL Too – Benjamin Light and Marco Sparks break down each episode of Pretty Little Liars in ever increasing detail. For hilarious recaps, vetting of theories (even the crazy ones), and hilarious impersonations of the PLL characters after every new episode (Mr. D and Toby are favorites) – this one’s for you.
  4. She Did it Her Way – A collective of interviews with top female entrepreneurs who did it their way, hosted by Amanda Boleyn, a good friend from GBS. SDITHW is put together in part with Tess Wicks and Molly Rose. Every week they launch a new episode along with posting catch-up with past women they’ve interviewed to see where they are now. Amanda and Tess spoke at the most recent GBS about the entire process of putting together a podcast and how they got started – so inspiring!
  5. The Jess Lively Show – The Lively show is a weekly podcast designed to add a little extra intention to your everyday. Episodes will touch on various aspects of our lives including possessions, personal habits, relationships, and career. Entrepreneurship and online business also appear from time to time. There is a special emphasis on the blogging world and each episode is designed to uplift, inform, and inspire. My favorite episodes include Kendi from Kendi Everyday discussing the ups and downs of owning her own clothing store and Caroline from Un-fancy.com talking through why she stopped blogging at what some would call the peak of her blogging ‘career.’

If podcasts aren’t your thing, I mentioned a few months ago that I started listening to audio-books, thanks to Audible. I just finished reading Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid a few weeks ago and just started in on The Other Daughter by Lauren Willig. Click through below to see what else I’ve read over the past few months:

I recently became addicted to podcasts as well! My absolute favorite, that started my podcast love, is called Lore. They are quick, 25 minute episodes, that explore different urban legends and common folklore. They are spooky, thought provoking, and beautifully produced. You should definitely check them out :)

Can’t wait to check out Limetown! Also, have you listened to Call Your Girlfriend? It’s a hilarious and pretty informative podcast that’s based around the phone calls between two besties. I highly recommend it!

I should note that Limetown is a fictional podcast! I’ve had a few people tell me they recommended it to others without realizing that :) It’s still amazing!
