This past summer and into fall, I’ve been working on our living room design with Havenly – the online interior design service which matches you with a designer to help you customize and shop for your space. I shared my initial inspiration and the two different design ideas that Chelsea, my interior designer came up with here. I’m excited to share images of the decorated space (I won’t say complete – there are still a few things that we need to do, mainly adding one or two more pieces to the wall and drapes)!

Our main requests for the space:

  • Large artwork above couch
  • Reading Nook – Chair/Side Table/Lamp
  • Wall Art/Accessories
  • Shelving/Storage

Chelsea was able to secure all of the requests. We waffled back and forth on picking the right chair and side table for the reading nook and I even took to Facebook to see if anyone could offer some opinions (this is always a good and bad idea). We ended up with the perfect sized chair for the space that offers both comfort and style. In addition to finding a side table that is both transitional and safe for when we eventually have kids in the space (I was heavily leaning towards this accent table but had enough people remind me that when we have kids down the road, we would probably appreciate something a bit sturdier).

Overall, I’m thrilled with the final space and spend as much time in here as possible; either working from the chair, or binging on my latest Netflix obsession (currently Longmire) from our couch. I can’t wait to host our friends and family during the upcoming holiday months, especially with the additional seating offered by the two poufs we added to the space.

I think if Cody could help it, he would be fine with me leaving the makeovers to this room and calling it a day, but next up on our list is turning one of our empty rooms into a guest bedroom – stay tuned!

It’s from a small town leather furniture store in Iowa, but it’s about 22/23 years old! My aunt was getting rid of it when they purchased new furniture for their space! It was such a steal (free) and my favorite piece of furniture in our house!

I love the design & decor in your living room! Your design is very similar to my taste and style that I have envisioned for my apartment, I just need to outline it better like you have. This room is so cute! I will definitely tell others to check it out also!

The builder picked this color – it’s the only room in my house that is going to stay this color (it gets the most natural light, so it never reads too dark). It’s Tavern Taupe by Sherwin Williams!

Hi, I love the Volo Design armchair. I’ve searched the internet for it and found nothing. I know this post is many years old, but just wondering if you have any info about it, know the style name or know where it was from? Thanks!
