A Mini Home Office Tour

Target Tufted Chaise Sattee, Side Tables (similar), Tufted Bench, Sconces, Vase (similar)| Julia Kostreva Print | gifted Irvine Framebridge Frame | Dulcinea Rug

Since moving into our new house, it’s safe to assume that I’ve been more interested in interior design than fashion over the past few months. I may be struggling to figuring out how to make our living room space a cohesive design, however; I’ve always known the direction of one of my favorite rooms in our home, my office.

You may remember this post from over a year ago when I initially turned our guest bedroom in our town house into my office. My vision hasn’t strayed much from my initial concept board, I’m just getting around to executing the finishing touches: finally framing this Julia Kostreva print thanks to Framebridge, hanging these wall sconces from Target, and finding the most perfect faux hide rug at Dulcinea in Iowa City, and reusing the gold accent tables from our wedding as end tables for the sattee.

After having a custom frame quoted at a local craft store for almost $300, I went straight to interwebs to find a more affordable solution. Enter Framebridge. Let’s talk about a lifesaver and it’s the most user-friendly website/company. I simply uploaded an image of my art print (or you can have one of their designer’s select a piece of art for your space) and test out different framing options. I went with the Irvine frame  in a 44″ x 32″ with a white mat to frame my 36″ x 24″ artwork. Total spend for something this size? Under $150 and free shipping both ways. I simply shipped my artwork to Framebridge and they took care of the rest!

After a few hiccups trying to center and hang (ok re-hang…multiple times) everything on my own while my husband was out of town, I am quite pleased with the outcome of how my favorite nook turned out, and if you can’t tell from the photos, Lola is also a big fan!

I know what you may be thinking, “Sam, how is this an office…where is your desk? An office chair? Storage?” What you don’t see is the ugly piles of paperwork from the past five years that haven’t left the moving boxes and two very messy desks. One that is supposed to house my laptop and one used solely for crafting purposes, but I often find myself working straight from that pink couch. How can you not be inspired when you step into a space with a pink couch? It’s one thing I never knew I always needed. It’s a space to call my own and help contain the mess that can come from constant crafting, so I’m sure my husband appreciates that he can just shut the door to stay away from anything glittered or involves gold spray paint.

And that is a quick mini-tour of my home office, inspired by WeWork, a network co-working spaces all across the country. One day I would LOVE to be able to subscribe to one of the many co-working spaces when they head to the Midwest, but until then, this little humble abode will fit the bill just fine! If you are in a major US city, make sure to check out their growing list of coworking spaces!

  1. Your office looks amazing, and I totally feel you on that pile of stuff on other side of the room. I swear every time I clean our apartment there is always a stack of stuff that just gets added to another stack. And the multiple and I don’t do much about them… eekk. But your office style is right on point! I love it and need to come visit!! :)

  2. GIRL! I just got that same pink couch from Target but I am drooling over the way you styled it. SO adorable! Love the accent pieces, and I’m wishing your adorable dog came with it! ;)

Love the artwork with the print. Found you today via D*S. I also live in Des Moines, so it’s nice to run into another local blogger.
