Interiors & Exteriors: Fiddle Leaf Fig

The Brunette One_Fiddle Leaf Fig Inspiration_1

In hopes of distracting from our empty walls, I’ve invested in two fiddle leaf fig trees from Home Depot. For the record, by invested, I mean spent under $45 for the two of them. Unable to purchase in store, Home Depot sells house plants online and ships them to your house, novel concept. I’ll be interested to see how they arrive on our front porch, hopefully intact! Full report to come…

I still need to purchase wicker baskets or fun pots to plant them into, but I’m excited to add one plant to our living room for some greenery and the other will reside in my new office!

I want a fiddle leaf fig tree for my living room! Can’t wait to see how your’s arrive from the Home Depot. I’ve been meaning to go to a local garden center to look for one. I’m thinking the same thing as you… hoping it will fill up a blank-ish wall that I don’t want to hang any art on.

OMG yes please post an update on the arrival of the plants! I am so curious to see how they are packaged {and whether they arrive in top condition} after being shipped. Can’t wait to see the final look! :)

Lindsey, they arrived in good shape! Skinny & tall boxes with cuts on the side to allow for some breathing room. They were wrapped in kraft paper and then the black pot had some dirt coming out of it, so I need to pick out my baskets ASAP. But overall pleased with them!

Oh yes, HD is where I got my fiddle as well ($16ish?) I’ve had mine since Dec ’14 and for awhile it didn’t seem to be growing very much. I read a lot of articles that made it seem like the fiddles DON’T like water but then I started watering mine more frequently about a month ago and it has shot up so much! I want a tree! Good luck with your 2 :)

Are you able to post the link to where you bought your fig trees? I’ve searched home depot’s website but can’t find a fig tree (only a smaller plant). I would love to get one too but haven’t found one for under $100. Thanks!

The ones from Home Depot are much smaller, but will potentially grow taller. Looking at them in old photos on instagram and where they are now, they’ve grown a few inches taller. Some Home Depot stores, if you are buying in store, have them in taller versions; however, my store in Des Moines doesn’t sell them so I ordered these online.

Thank you for this reminder! I just had to repot my plants – they weren’t looking very healthy! I will need to try this if they end up biting the dust!
