Sunday Musings

It’s been a few weeks since my last post. It’s not without reason, but reason just happens to be life. We found a house (!knock on wood!) and they accepted our offer. So now comes the fun: more inspections, final approvals, walk-throughs, and oh yes, eventually packing up our townhouse and moving across town. In addition to house hunting the past few months (we had an offer on a house that we ended up pulling out of before Christmas…something about a new roof and siding can really put a damper on savings and the joys of home ownership…which pushed back our initial moving plans), my full-time job has become increasingly busy. At a start-up you do what it takes to get the job done, and often that means working some crazy hours and on the weekends to make sure we are hitting numbers and answering client emails, etc., but I won’t bore you with those details.

And while life has taken over, life hasn’t left much time for much else, especially this blog (I sound like a broken record). I’ve prided myself over the past four and a half years of the time and dedication I’ve allowed for The Brunette One to thrive and lately I feel I haven’t done it much justice. I have grandeur plans for this space, including a redesign that I’m going to do myself (coding and all…I just got an awesome new logo, I can’t wait to debut). Some may ask, but “Sam, you just redesigned it last summer….?” And while yes that is true, I feel like I didn’t give myself enough time and focus on it while I was busy planning, designing, crafting, and getting married. My five year anniversary comes up this summer and I want to embody the past five years of what this blog has done for me and my life since I first hit publish on that first blog post – I’m just not quite sure yet how it will all shake out.

That’s not to say I’m done blogging by any means, maybe just a break for a bit while life continues to happen over the next month or so. I have a few scheduled style posts and DIYs coming up over the next few weeks, but don’t mind the minimal updates until we are finally in our new house and things are better managed on the work/life balance side of things.

Until then, stay tuned for updates and follow along on Instagram – @_thebrunetteone!

  • I went in for a trim last Sunday and spontaneously chopped my hair off and haven’t one single regret about it!
